How to Increase CPC/RPM in Google Adsense?

I received a mail from Google asking me to change my ad format. At the first look, I thought it is just a normal mail Google Adsense keeps on sending to Adsense account holders from time to time. When I read that mail thoroughly, it just made me to think, why Google wrote this to me. There was some detail about my ad format I used in my site, my site URL and the funniest part is how many times I have used which ad format in my site. Then it made me serious to go through the complete mail in details word by word.

The mail contained the below message to me:-

“Hi,

We've noticed that you have a lot of small ad units such as the 250x250 ad unit on cksofts.com. Here's our recommendation: Change your smaller ad units to the better-performing 300x250 ad units and monitor the results!

Upgrade your ad units now!

Not convinced yet?

Currently you have 110 250x250 units on your site that are earning an average RPM of $2.82. Increasing the size of these ad units to 300x250 could substantially increase your RPM and overall revenue. Publishers typically make $18.79 RPM with the bigger format and you could see similar results too!”

What is RPM?

Page revenue per thousand impressions (RPM) is calculated by dividing your estimated earnings by the number of page views you received, then multiplying by 1000.

Page RPM = (Estimated earnings / Number of page views) * 1000

For example, if you earned an estimated $0.15 from 25 page views, then your page RPM would equal ($0.15 / 25) * 1000, or $6.00.

When I calculated the figure with my Adsense account, I found that the figure which Google has given me in the email it was correct. So I thought, why I should earn less than I can make more with the same effort I am doing presently. Immediately I changed the ad format from 250x250 to 300x250.

Guess what?

I updated this on 19 Oct 12 When I checked my Adsense account just after 24 hours of updating my ad format, my RPM has reached from average $3.00 to $28.18. I was surprised to see this jump within a period of 24 hours and unless Google did not have informed me about this, I was going to lose huge money. This is not it, with that change, the click rate also increased for me which I used to get earlier. And it just happened in a time gap of 24 hours time only. Make Free Internet Phone Calls

You really can make free phone calls using the Internet! Free internet phone programs let you make free phone calls, usually only to the US and Canada, using special software.

Most of the free phone call applications I list below are PC to phone programs, meaning you can make a free call from your computer to a real telephone number so you don't even need a telephone yourself. Google Voice is much more than a way to make free phone calls on the Internet. Google Voice is primarily a way to manage the phone numbers in your life and can be used to intelligently route incoming calls to your free phone number provided by Google Voice to any other phone you have. With Google Voice, you can also get free SMS, make a free conference call, and get free voice mail services.

Free calls you make with Google Voice must be to numbers in the United States or Canada.

Google Voice is available as a web app that you can use in any browser, including mobile browsers (as pictured here). Dedicated apps are available for Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone users.

Free phone calls with Google Voice are limited to three hours. However, you can continue to make a free call to the same number over and over again.

iCall is another tool you can use to make free internet phone calls. With iCall, you can make free calls from PC to phone using their free software.

The computer that you make calls from can be anywhere in the world but for the call to be free, the number you call must be in the United States or Canada. You can't make free phone calls using iCall if you're calling outside the US or Canada.

iCall is available as a free desktop application for Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux and as a free iPhone app. Free phone calls will be disconnected after a short five minutes but you can call the number back again as many times as you want. You will also hear an advertisement before each call that's around ten seconds long.

A flash-based version of iCall is also available on their website but free calls here are limited to three minutes.

3. Freebuzzer

Another Internet phone that can be used to make free phone calls is Freebuzzer.

Freebuzzer works a lot like Google Voice in that it connects your phone with the phone number you dial. Your free call is limited to a very short two minutes and you can only make three free calls per day.

The good news is that free phone calls with Freebuzzer can be made to over 40 countries. Since most Internet phones restrict free calls to the US and Canada, Freebuzzer might be your only bet for free calls to certain countries.

4. EvaPhone

EvaPhone is yet another way to make free Internet phone calls. EvaPhone lets you make free, but incredibly short, PC to phone calls all from a Flash-based interface right on their website.

What makes EvaPhone unique is that you can call nearly any phone in the entire world for free. Another thing that makes EvaPhone unique is how incredibly short that free call is. Free calls range from ten seconds to one minute in length, depending on the destination. You're also also limited to just two calls per day.

After dialing a number on EvaPhone, you'll watch a short video advertisement and then your free call will begin. A countdown timer will begin so you know when you'll be disconnected.

I certainly don't think EvaPhone is the best way to make a free call on the Internet, but if you need to tell someone something fast, don't have your own phone, and don't want to pay for the call or download software, EvaPhone might be the perfect free Internet phone for you.

5. Tuitalk

Tuitalk is another Internet phone that works much like EvaPhone. With Tuitalk, however, you have to download their free Internet phone software.

Tuitalk lets allows you to make free phone calls to around 40 countries. Each country in which you make your free phone call is limited to a certain number of minutes per call and per day. For most countries, your free Internet phone call can be six minutes in length.

Before your free call with Tuitalk is connected, you have to watch several seconds of a high-quality video advertisement.

How To Trace Google Adsense Clicks

Tracing Google Adsense Clicks and keeping them in a record is another way of protecting your blog from invalid adsense clicks. The saved records of IP address geo-location of IP address and the click activity will be your lifesaver if you became a victim of Adsense invalid click activity.

As you already aware of, Google is getting more strict about adsense invalid click activity and therefore hundreds of thousands of accounts getting disabled every day. That’s why in this article I’m going to show you how to trace the adsense click activity on your blog, who clicked on your ads, from which IP they clicked, where the IP is located and from which page or article they clicked?, these records are very useful to produce to google if something goes wrong.

How to Tracing Google Adsense Clicks on my Blog

- To start with this you must need a free or paid account on StatCounter. StatCounter offers free and paid account options and it depends on you which type of account needed. VisitStatCounter account and create a new account now. The statcounter script can be used for tracing Google Adsense clicks.

- Install script in your blog. I prefer in footer.php or header.php.

- Once the script is installed you may need few minutes for tracing Google Adsense clicks on your StatCounter account, there are several reports available, but we are just learning about how to tracing Google Adsense clicks.

- Click on Exit Link Activity from the left menu. Here you will see detailed information of all the exit links from your blog including adsense clicks. Refer to the image below:

- in the above picture, 1 is; where you should click to get detailed report. 2 is; the clicked exit links and which starts from googleads.g.doubleclick… which are the ads clicked on your blog. and next to it 3 is; from which page the ads been clicked.

-Now click on the magnify glass icon before the date of each line which you give you more detailed information about the clicks, including IP address, geo-location and much more. Refer to the image below:

- From the above image you can see the activity of a specified visitor including; Search Referral, IP Address, Location, Visit Length, Browser, OS etc and if you scroll down more you will see more details of the visit under Navigation Path.

That’s it, now keep this by getting screen-shot or whatever way you prefer and save it. This way you will do something to protect you from adsense invalid clicks as well as tracing the visitors activity on your blog.
